Week 11 – Ten Mile Day 
1) country: the land of a person's birth, residence, or citizenship
2) interpret: to explain or tell the meaning of
3) imagine: to form a mental image of (something not present)
4) homeland: native land
5) immigrant: a person who comes to a country to take up permanent residence
6) freedom: the quality or state of being free
7) religion: a personal set or institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices
8) escape: to get free of; break away from
9) famine: an extreme scarcity of food
10) opportunities: a good chance for advancement or progress
11) foreman: a person in charge of a group of workers, a particular operation, or a section of a plant
12) accomplish: to bring to completion
13) foundation: an underlying base or support
14) bulldozer: a tractor-driven machine usually having a broad horizontal blade for moving earth
15) jackhammers: a tool that drills through rock by hitting it very hard and quickly  
16) lumber: to move ponderously
17) volunteers: a person who voluntarily undertakes or expresses a willingness to undertake a service
18) flatcars: a railroad freight car without permanent raised sides, ends, or covering
